Our Mourning Sickness is that period between when you receive a diagnosis that changes your life...
....a life-limiting diagnosis....
........an ultrasound without a heartbeat........
............the news your baby won't be going home............
...and when you officially start grieving.
Our Mourning Sickness picks up where morning sickness leaves off.
This is a safe place to be who you are, to mourn and grieve and be angry. You may be hopeful and optimistic. You may cycle through all of these emotions, and more. Maybe you're only here for resources. Maybe you are here by accident. I'm conflicted about having you here, no matter how or why you've found this place. No matter why you are here, it is sad that this place has to exist because that means that sometimes, we have to say goodbye to our babies.
OUR babies.
OUR babies.
These babies are not the sole property of their mother. These are OUR babies. Maybe your "OUR" includes a mother, father and grandparents. Maybe your "OUR" includes a mother, a sibling and an aunt. Maybe your "OUR" is birth parents, adoptive parents and all the additional family members. Whoever is your "OUR", they are all welcome and accounted for here.
