I am so proud to announce that, on September, 23, 2014, I gained my credentials as a Stillbirthday birth and bereavement doula. This credential enables me to serve and support birth with any expected outcome and I am beyond thrilled to be credentialed by such a highly respected organization. The completion of this program has made me the very first Stillbirthday birth and bereavement doula in Oakland county, MI and I look forward to working within this community in a variety of ways. There are big things coming through Our Mourning Sickness, so please stay tuned as some details get worked out!
Today is a very special day! Today, I submitted my final projects on my journey to certification with stillbirthday!
I am a trained, skilled doula. I trained initially with DONA, and now I have also completed training through stillbirthday and have also submitted my final projects. Those projects are a great way to prepare myself for the actual certification, and they consisted of the creation of this site you are on and several book reviews. Soon, I will be able to say that I am a credentialed stillbirthday birth and bereavement doula! I am also trained in CPR and Psychological First Aid. This training program has been the most intense learning experience of my life. I have embarked on a journey that has exposed some of my big, deep fears and has taught me so very much. There are few opportunities to explore the areas of your life that are scary and hidden away; this training gave me an excellent opportunity to do that again and again. I can't say enough good things about the stillbirthday program and would really like to share with you how profoundly the founder, Heidi Faith, and her team of student leads, Deana and Julia, have impacted my life. It's bee incredible. If you want to know more about making the decision to become a trained (and soon - certified!) birth and bereavement doula, please send me an email or start a conversation in the comments. It's a great way to get to know yourself, your community and share your love with those around you. |
